Autumn 1

Reading Books Together.

Our parents, carers and children have been learning how books can support our learning. Every Wednesday afternoon we have a different focus during our Family Learning session.

We have discussed how children’s learning and understanding is developed through looking at non-fiction books and linked this to ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We found out why fruit is healthy and good for us to eat.The children sequenced their own instructions and made delicious caterpillars with their adults!

We read the story of The Bad Tempered Ladybird’. We discussed how books allow children to explore and manage their feelings.

The children participated in discussion about this book, taking it in turns and linking this story to when they have felt bad tempered themselves.

After the teaching session with Miss Webb, our adults supported us to make our own ladybird puppets, practice our pencil control and write our own book reviews.
