We will be placing important emphasis on the teaching of English and Maths each day and throughout the curriculum. We are also launching Accelerated Reader with Year 3 this year. AR is a reading programme that is individualised to each child. They will read books and take tests in order to progress towards their own target. If they hit their target by the end of the half term they save a reading bug from the clutches of Evil Mr Booth. You can support your child by listening to them read their AR books everyday and asking them questions about the text.
Homework is being undertaken through the POWer Projects each half term. The books should be returned on a Monday to be marked and then children can take them home and do another activity. Each activity is worth a number of points and children are aiming to gain as many points as possible with prizes awarded each half term.
We will also be providing additional maths homework each week. This will be given out on Fridays and required back on the following Monday. The maths homework will consolidate learning in our maths lessons that week.
Spellings will be given out each Tuesday. The lists should be taken home and practised ready for the test on the following Tuesday. At school, we will learn about these words and how to use them in our writing.
P.E. WILL BE ON A MONDAY AFTERNOON.
Please send your child dressed in school uniform with their P.E kits (including trainers and water bottles) in their bag. They will change for P.E after lunch.
