The Remote Learning Policy (below) explains how we will deliver home learning if a whole class “bubble” has to be sent home and has to self-isolate. This is based on government guidance and was informed by the recent Home Technology Survey which parents / carers completed on Weduc.
For your information, the survey showed that 78% of pupils have individual or shared access to an internet-connected device (laptop / tablet) at home and 86% of pupils have access to a broadband internet connection.
If a class “bubble” has to shut, this is the home learning timetable that all children will follow:
#Home learning will be delivered using Google Classroom; a safe and secure online learning environment which will allow all children to access live lessons, complete and submit work and receive feedback. A Parents Guide for using Google Classroom is below.
The sessions highlighted in blue will normally include a live, online teacher-led session – which all children will be expected to attend. The live, online teacher-led session will be at the very beginning of each session – children can join up to 5 minutes before the start time. Following this, the children will need to complete and submit (this is called “turning in” on Google) their work. This needs to be submitted by 2.30pm.
The sessions highlighted in orange will be independent activities – set by a teacher (Monday – Thursday only). The children will need to complete the work and, where required, submit it by the given deadline. A teacher or teaching assistant might also invite a child to a one-to-one / small group online session during these sessions for some extra support / to hear them read; children will be expected to attend.
Children will still be expected to complete their daily home reading and daily access to Numbots (Year 1) or TT Rockstars (Year 2 – Year 6) [approximately 15 minutes of each per day].
Reading for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
We have provided all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children with access to Rising Starts: Reading Planet - which is an online reading scheme (aligned to our own reading scheme) so that they can keep reading every day.
